Target has decided to bring in the New Year with a new designer collaboration. Jason Wu is the next to create a collection with the street style savvy retailer. With a month left before the collection debut, his ad campaigns are painting a very soft and feminine picture for adoring fans.
The collection is set to launch on February 5th. One can gather between ad campaigns and recently released photos that pleated dresses, stripes, structured bags, and floral prints can all be expected on Target racks. The inspiration behind this collection comes from Milu the cat, which appears in two ads. Milu is said to be an adorable kitty, yet still quite the rascal.
Wu told Women’s Wear Daily that his collection “features clothes and accessories that are easily convertible from day to evening – sophisticated, feminine dresses, mix-and-match separates, and playful accessories all with a bit of charm and dressed-up attitude.”
The Jason Wu for Target line will be available in stores and online Feb 5- March 6th. The affordable collection is priced between 19.99- 59.99 for garments and 19.99-49.99 for handbags.
The 29-year-old designer got his first taste of fame after Michelle Obama wore one of his designs to the Inaugural Ball in 2009. He is sure to only gain more success with his awaited collection.
The designer told WWD, “This partnership offers an exciting opportunity for me to interpret my aesthetic into a collection made for a broader market. It was very interesting for me to translate my signature touches into a more affordable collection without compromising quality, design, and sophistication.”
