WhiteApricot.com is an online newsletter and website that has been covering eco and socially conscious fashion, beauty and lifestyle since 2007. The founder and Editor, Carrie Pollare, began her career as a public relations executive before deciding she would rather be her own boss. That decision spawned a twenty-year journey that has included product development, launching high-end handbags and jewelery, and co-founding a philanthropic campaign.
Bonni Osterhage graduated from Stephen College with a journalism degree and began her career ten years ago. Initially working as the fashion editor for a San Antonio magazine before moving to special features editor for a San Antonio paper. Currently, this freelance writer contributes to various Texas magazines, a public relations firm, and serves as the content writer and beauty editor of WhiteApricot.com.
Green Grab Bag was born when Bonny realized how overwhelming it must be for consumers to choose the right green beauty products. Bonny thought that everyone, not just Beauty Editors, should get to sample products before spending their hard earned money on the full size. She took her idea to Carrie and the two made Green Grab Bag a reality.
By subscribing to Green Grab Bag’s monthly service you can expect to receive at least six natural, organic or vegan samples delivered to your door each month. Along with the samples, you will also receive an informational page describing each product and instructions on how to use them. The packaging of the bag, from the tissue to the ribbon and even the bag itself is eco-friendly and 100% recyclable.
My January Green Grab Bag contained seven samples from six different brands. One “sample” that I received was a full size product worth $28.00. So just with that one product, the bag paid for itself. I really enjoyed sampling brands that I have never tried and out of the seven samples I received, I am planning on purchasing the full size version of four. The full size product that my Green Grab Bag contained was a blush that is the perfect shade for my pale skin. Since I was provided with the full size I have no reason to purchase right now. The other two samples that I will not purchase is because of issues with scent and formulation. I received a self-tanner, which is a product I do not use.
If it were not for Green Grab Bag I would have never tried these brands because I would have never known that they existed. This is a fantastic and inexpensive way to discover products that are new to you and give them a test drive before purchasing the full size version. Subscribe to Green Grab Bag for a mere $15.00 a month. Or pay for the entire year in advance and receive a 20% discount.
