The collaboration trend is moving from apparel designers to the masterminds behind the makeup counter. In the last few weeks there have been introductions to some new and upcoming capsule collections in the makeup world. D&G are in the works of the Khol line, while M.A.C. salutes Marilyn Monroe with her own collection and Estee Lauder channels Mad Men through beauty products. Makeup trends are just as ever-changing and fresh as fashion, so why not try out the latest craze on the cosmetic counter?
Felicity Jones signed a contract for Dolce & Gabbana’s Cosmetic Campaign 2012, which is set to sell in Saks stores and online. The Khol collection includes new products for eyes and nails to help create glamorous looks. There are five new Intense Khol Eye Crayons in True Black, True White, Peacock, Dahlia (burgundy) and Chocolate. The pigment-rich crayons are designed for easy application whether it’s a clear line or smokey eye makeup.
Marilyn is the newest muse for M.A.C. makeup artists, so much so they created a collection after the Old Hollywood sultry starlet. The late singer’s signature cat eye, nails, and ruby red lip all spark inspiration for the line. Included in the Marilyn palette is a range of eye shadows, nail polishes, eyeliners, and lipsticks. Ms. Monroe’s beauty products will be priced $15-$27 and is set to debut in October.
Last but certainly not least is Estee Lauder’s limited edition Mad Men Collection. Everyone loves the show for more than the amazing storyline. Makeup and wardrobe worn in the show has prompted a fashion movement back to the 1960’s. The line will includered lipsticks and petal pink crème rouge, wrapped in Estee Lauder’s 1960’s packaging. You can pick up your goods at a Bloomingdale’s or esteelauder.com starting March 18, just in time for season five’s premiere on March 25th.
