It’s coming to be that time of year – when even non-Irish people celebrate in the middle of March for St Patrick’s Day. Most people might think of green beer being the traditional way to celebrate, but really, why not try something new? If you want to celebrate in style, or if you don’t care for the taste of beer, you should try some green drinks this year!

Green Dublin Apple Cocktail

Similar to an Appletini, this drink has a few other special ingredients. It’s a sweet and sour cocktail that has a base of Michael Collins, an Irish whiskey.

Recipe

  • 2 oz Michael Collins Irish Whiskey
  • 1 oz green apple/sour apple schnapps
  • 2 oz white cranberry juice (you could use red, but this will change the colour of the drink, of course)
  • Granny Smith apple slices for garnish

Put all ingredients into a chilled cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously.

Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of Granny Smith apple.

Serve immediately.

Irish Buck

This simple buck drink combines ginger ale, lime juice, and Irish whiskey.

Recipe

  • 1 ½ oz Irish whiskey
  • 2 oz ginger ale or ginger beer for a spicier drink
  • ¼ oz fresh lime juice
  • slice or wheel of lime for garnish

Pour the Irish whiskey and lime juice over ice in a chilled Collins or highball glass.

Top with ginger ale or ginger beer (to your preference). Garnish with a piece of lime.
