With every passing season the world seems to get more stylish. Dress to impress has never been so relevant in businesses. The newest retailer to jump on the designer collaboration train is Sephora, with their partnership with Prabal Gurung. The new silhouette for staff in all North American stores will be black with red trimming, shift dresses for women, and black sweaters and trousers for men.
Proudly born in born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, Gurung debuted his first eponymous collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2009. A graduate of New Delhi’s Institute of Fashion Technology, he apprenticed with a few fashion houses before attending Parson school of Design and then made his way to design director of Bill Blass. Five years later, Prabal Gurung’s brand was born. When his ideal muse asked, he said he enjoys dressing the women who have strength of mind and real character.
What were his hopes for Sephora? “My intention was to reflect the style and playfulness of shopping in a Sephora store, but to also make sure they would be functional in such a fast-paced environment, ” Gurung responded. The new uniforms will debut in April 2012, and will be the first change to the retailer’s employee wear since 2001. The designer stated, “The dress incorporates one of my favorite designelements, offering a flash of vibrant red, while the women’s pant suit and the separates for men give a sleeker, more tailored look.”Senior vice president of marketing for Sephora: “Prabal’s ability to design clothes that are modern and cool yet accessible to all womenreflects Sephora’s ideal of client-inspired beauty.
