After entering a new phase in my life, where protein, probolic, MSM and flax seed are now a part of my daily nutrition plan, I’ve learned to appreciate the benefits; While mixing and matching flavors to better enjoy my morning, afternoon and night time shakes. We live in a post Bruce Lee era. We don’t necessarily need to stomach 10 raw eggs every morning to receive our daily protein like the legend himself turned to when nutrition stores such as GNC were not around. We can now add our own “spoonful” of natural sugar to help the “medicine” go down. Here are a few ingredients for your daily shake regimen, breaking the old boring routine while unknowingly reaping the natural benefits.

Blueberry Banana Oatmeal Protein Shake

Add a banana to your shake for potassium, blueberries for antioxidants, and oatmeal for added complex carbohydrates and fiber. Add 1 ½ cups of water or almond milk, known for its high amount of magnesium which helps with muscle and nerve function by improving your strength, balance and coordination.

Protein shakes for sore muscles

Aside from adding the typical protein powder, add MSM (methyl sulfonyl methane) to strengthen your bones and increase flexibility. Probolic is another kind of protein in powder form. It is rich in calcium, iron and phosphorus, vital in the growth, maintenance and repair of tissue. Taking this shake at night is a great way to loosen muscles while slowly releasing protein and more essential vitamins and minerals into your body for the next 12 hours. It is preferable to purchase it in a flavor such as chocolate, cinnamon bun, etc since you only need to blend it with water for your nightly shake.

Cucumbers are a great source of Vitamin A, the peel contains antioxidants and is essentially used for beauty purposes because of the wonders it does for your skin and eyes. Blend with pomegranate juice for added sweetness and even more antioxidant power as well as lemon juice and carrots for even more vitamin C. If you really miss adding sugar, don’t use harmful sugar substitutes, try adding a sweet flavored tea such as raspberry instead of plain water, there is no added calories but it certainly adds a great taste.
