I know I usually stick to beauty related topics but I couldn’t resist stepping over into the fashion world when I found out this super exciting news! Bethany Cosentino announced via Twitter on March 1, 2012 that she is working with Urban Outfitters on a clothing line. This delights me to no end since I am smitten with Best Coast, am devoted to Urban Outfitters, AND I just so happen to wear clothes. Everyday! Hooray!

Singer and songwriter Bethany Cosentino is half of the Los Angeles based indie rock band Best Coast. The other half is made up by multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, and together they create dreamy, beach tunes that speak to the desperate and destitute girl deep inside all of us. The band’s most recent album release, July 2010’s Crazy For You, brought us the super catchy and so relatable “Boyfriend” and the cheeky “Our Deal”, a song which Drew Barrymore directed the music video for. Best Coast not only rocks, but they are gaining in popularity.

The collaboration is a no brainer in my opinion. Cosentino has her toes dipped in the mainstream vein enough to keep her visible and known to the public while somehow keeping her indie credibility badge proudly pinned to her lapel. According to Cosentino, the inspiration for the collection comes from growing up in the Valley, the movie Clueless, teen-aged girls, and her love of Stevie Nicks.

The collection will be a part of Urban Outfitter’s vintage line Urban Renewal. While Cosentino’s pieces will not be available to purchase until May 2012, you can whet your appetite with the few pictures that have been released online. This marks the second collaboration between a musician and Urban Outfitters. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth was the first back in 2009.
