Gap welcomed with open arms their newest children wear designer, Diane Von Furstenberg. Who better to bring fun and flare to the children’s world? Saturday March 3rd was the debut of her Gap Kids collection at the Grove’s Gap boutique in L.A.. Attendees both big and small, were able to shop the line before the launch on March 15 as well as engage in fun activities like paper doll making.
A runway experience was created for the little ones to strut their pieces down and have their picture snapped at the end of the catwalk. The collection is for girls ranging from newborn to fourteen. Included in the collection are signature shift and wrap dresses, and rompers. All in bold colored, iconic DVF prints that are from the designers archive.
DVF told People Magazine, “I am thrilled to collaborate with Gap on this playful collection for girls. It is timeless…colorful…effortless. It’s very DVF!” Diane also confessed that when Gap first approached her about the collection she turned them down. Known for her grown woman aesthetic, it took a moment for her to become comfortable with the idea of a children’s line. After a little thought on the topic, she then jumped at the chance to design for little ladies.
“I wanted something that was very core to the brand and that was fun and optimistic that mothers and their kids would love. I’m very happy with the results.” The same is sure to go for stylish mothers and daughters around the globe. Catch a sneak peek of the collection at gapkids.com.
