R&B singer, songwriter, and reality star Tamar Braxton is back on the charts with her new single, Love and War.
This smooth R&B love song, chronicles the ups and downs that many relationships encounter, no mater how perfect they seem. The song’s mid-tempo, melodic content deem it as enjoyable; as it is relatable. In the hook, Tamar purrs:
We stay on the frontlines, yeah but we’re still here after the bomb drops
We go so hard, we lose control
The fire starts, then we explode
When the smoke clears, we dry our tears
Only in love and war
Spoken like a true veteran – this is mainly because Tamar is no stranger to the spotlight. She rose to fame in the early 1990s as a founding member of the R&B group, The Braxtons. In March of 2000, she released her self titled debut album Tamar. As many of us know, she is also the youngest sister of superstar R&B singer Toni Braxton.
In April of 2011, Tamar reunited with her sisters for the WE TV reality show, Braxton Family Values. The first season was the #1 rated reality show on WE. This was largely in part to Tamar’s brash, yet outgoing personality. Each Thursday, those rambunctious quotes of hers, such as the recurring “Get Cha Life.com“, keep us on the edge of our seats. With this in mind, it was no big surprise that on September 20, 2012, WE TV premiered Tamar and Vince, a reality series starring Tamar and her husband songwriter, record producer, and record executive Vincent Herbert. The show is centered around her solo career and their married life.
She’s been signed to Interscope Records since September 2012. On the show, Tamar has featured multiple scenes of her in the studio working on her album, including tracks called “Get Your Life, “Hot Sugar” and the album’s first single “Love & War. “Love and War” was released on iTunes on December 6, 2012, and reached #1 in just 24 hours. Talk about unbelievable!!!
Besides recording her album, Tamar has been involved in many other projects. She recently guest starred along with her sister Trina on TV Land’s new sitcom The Soul Man starring actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer. She will also co-host an upcoming late night talk show called Tiny Tonight with singer and reality star Tameka “Tiny” Cottle. The show is scheduled to air later in December 2012 on VH1.
This girl has come a long way from singing backup for Toni Braxton and Lady Gaga. She is definitely raising her own bar, doing her own thing, and doing it rather well. Her currently untitled sophomore album featuring the song “Love and War” is due for release in February 2013. Pick it up people!!!! It’s sure to have a title by then.
