Music Review |”Suit and Tie” – Justin Timberlake ft. Jay-Z

The year was 1998. As boy bands were starting to dominate, NSYNC exploded onto the scene and pop music hasn’t been the same since. The Orlando based boy band had it all: good looks, infectious songs with catchy hooks, synchronized dance moves, and of course, Justin Timberlake. In every music video, and every live performance, the blond haired, blue eyed dynamo, continuously entranced audiences with his Michael Jackson inspired dance moves, and Stevie Wonder influenced falsetto. In addition to being one of the most talented in the group, he was also the object of every teenage girl’s affection. It was then confirmed that many teenage girls at the time, (myself included) were stricken with Timberlake-itis and proud of it. Today, the newly married Mr. Timberlake is a superstar. In addition to his numerous NSYNC hits, as a solo artist he has sold millions worldwide, and is also a rising actor.

Jay-ZAfter a musical hiatus, he’s back with his long anticipated new single “Suit & Tie” from his forthcoming album The 20/20 Experience. With a guest appearance from Hip hop veteran Jay-Z, the mildly provocative “Suit & Tie” sends a clear message that his bubblegum pop, boy band days are behind him. It offers a more grown and sexy sound, which is saturated in a live band feel. The mid-tempo dance track, contains brassy instruments reminiscent of pioneering 70s soul music. When the Mickey Mouse Club alum repetitively serenades his woman that he’s going to “show her a few things,” trading his old ways for the new have never sounded so good. The 20/20 Experience is due in stores sometime this year. Welcome back JT!!!
