Since signing to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group imprint in February 2011, Robert “Meek Mill” Williams has been shining bright. So bright that the entire hip-hop world needs to wear shades. After the success of his ever so popular single, “Amen”, he’s back with the boldly inspirational, “Dreams and Nightmares”. From its album of the same title, the song chronicles the heaven, along with the hell, that he’s been experiencing in his career, thus far. The track graphically depicts the story of the Philadelphia native’s trials and triumphs.

In an aggressive monotone he raps: “I used to pray for times like this to rhyme like this/ so I had to grind like that to shine like this. He continues with memorable lines such as, See my dreams unfold, nightmares come true. It was time to marry the game and I said, “Yeah, I do.

As the song progresses, Meek’s monotone changes to brash and boastful, whereas the lyrics feature minor vulgarity – despite this, the lyrics are intensely powerful.

In February 2012, MTV listed Mill as the “#7 hottest MC” in their annual Hottest MCs in the Game list. He also received praises from many industry heavyweights such as Mariah Carey and Nas, with whom he appeared on Carey’s 2012 single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em). Nas was quoted saying that Meek Mill is the next to take the hip-hop world by storm. The birth of his record label, Dream Chasers proves that his success is skyrocketing into orbit and can only go farther.

Released on October 30, 2012, the album “Dreams and Nightmares” debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 165,000 copies. In its second week, the album sold 41,000 more copies and it’s still rising. I wonder what his next hit single is going to be? Stay tuned!
