Tom Ford’s beauty collection is old news. The stunning collection launched at luxury retailers in early November and stayed in headlines for weeks. The news now is that Tom Ford was recently awarded with Women’s Wear Daily’s 2011 Beauty Inc. Award for Launch of the Year in the Prestige category.

Tom Ford believes that beauty is a potent way for a woman to transform herself. According to Ford, makeup, skin care and fragrance have the potential to enable a real woman to become as glamorous and inspirational as she can possibly be.

Like everything Tom Ford creates, the beauty collection oozes sex, sophistication, and luxury. The line ranges in price from $30.00 to $250.00 making every product a delicious indulgence. Women everywhere were in a frenzy when the news hit magazines that he was coming out with a beauty collection. Pre-order sales were plentiful and customers could be found elbowing each other at beauty counters in order to purchase their coveted items. So far, industry sources report the brand has sales of $150 million globally, a number that consists mainly of fragrance sales. That figure is expected to grow to $400 to $500 million in the next five years.

It’s no surprise since women are smitten with Mr. Ford (myself included) and would surely apply teal lipstick to their pouts if he told them he thought it was beautiful. During a personal appearance at Bergdorf Goodman, Ford sold a reported $52,000 worth of products. According to Bergdorf’s Pat Saxby, “It was one of the biggest events in Bergdorf’s history.”
The colors in the collection are as polished, sexy and enchanting as the man himself. My favorites include a deep burgundy brown nail lacquer called Bitter Bitch ($30.00) and bright red high shine lip gloss ($45.00) cheekily named Lost Cherry.
