It’s been only a few weeks since the launch and selling out of Versace for H&M, and already trendsetters are eagerly awaiting the release of the next designer collection. Courtesy of H&M’s press release, it has been confirmed that Marni will be the next designer to do a collaborative line with H&M. The Marni collection will be composed of women and menswear, jewelry, shoes, bags, and scarves. Only 260 of the stores worldwide are expected to get the collection.  All others will be able to get it online starting March 8, 2012.

Marni is an Italian fashion label started in 1994 by Consuelo Castilglioni. The brand’s aesthetic is considered ‘European influenced bohemianism’. Early design features of Marni included idiosyncratic prints, vintage-inspired shapes, and fabrics. For the H&M collection, Castilglioni is focusing on juxtapositions of color and textures.

What’s to be expected from this Italian fashion house partnership?  Think Bauhaus graphics paired with bold colors and tribal prints. Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni will be coordinating prints and colors, and mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphics throughout the collection. What’s she most excited about; the chunky jewelry that will be offered.

Ladies get excited. Silhouettes in the collection are all Marni staples: full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers, and jacquard knits. Fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin. Men can look forward to softer color palates, man sandals, and menswear with color blocks representative of Marni’s signature styles.

Consuelo wants to reach a wider audience, especially the younger generation. This launch is sure to be a success and its still months away.  Is March 8th marked on your calendars yet?
