The thought of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner brings to mind memories of a long buffet style table crowded with bowls of gravies, sides, stuffing and desserts, barely leaving enough space for the napkins and silverware. All of these sides were simply teasers, surrounding the star of the evening, a 10-12 pound oven roasted turkey with a bronze finish and shiny, smooth texture. Unbenounced to us, what we saw as a delicious turkey that simply needed to be submerged in gravy, was nothing more than another over cooked Thanksgiving victim.

They said it would never happen again! They mocked the very idea of it at the 2011 Emmy’s! We feared that once again, an awards show generally known as a light hearted affair (due to copious amounts of wine being consumed), would turn into yet another Hollywood circle jerk self ego boosting ceremony where multi-million dollar celebrities talk about how awesome they are without so much as a hint of self-awareness! And yet, it’s being reported that the brilliant British comedian, Ricky Gervais who absolutely slayed at last year’s Golden Globes has been asked to return for another round of ripping on entitled celebrities and off-color humor that made last year’s show so entertaining.

The Last Blind Date sparkles with the warmth and honesty of the best blogs. Sometimes, though, in reading certain blogs, I feel like an awkward voyeur into unwitting secondary characters’ lives. And here it was hard to enjoy the sulky stepdaughter, touchy-feely in-laws, and the trashy wedding of an overage bride (note: not the narrator) while I felt awkwardly like a friend was oversharing.
