Pizza is everyone’s favorite pastime. Being a Baltimore native, I’ve been told that I haven’t experienced pizza at all, until I’ve experienced it in New York City. For many years I’ve agreed until I’ve come across a place in in the Fells point area called BOP. BOP is an acronym for Brick Oven Pizza. We’re talking more than basic pita bread, tomato sauce, cheese and toppings here; it’s more of a delectable journey. Care to join me?

Upon arrival, plush and cozy furnishings in the open, airy, fresh orchid-scented hotel lobby beckoned me sit back and settle in to “vacation mode.” This I did as a team of service-focused staffers checked me in while I freshened up with a provided moist towelette and sipped a complimentary glass ofShirazwine – the welcome amenity I opted for over a cappuccino. This wonderful arrival experience was apropos foreshadowing of the hospitality to follow.

New Executive Chef commandeers Bali Hai Restaurant San Diego
In his short time at Bali Hai, Lieberman and has already flexed his creative muscle by introducing an array of seasonal menu items that are attracting local leisure diners, tourists, and large parties, alike. On a recent “girl’s night out,” I had the pleasure of sampling multiple dishes from the current iteration of the Bali Hai menu, which duly showcases this chef’s artistic vision and versatility.

As I walked through its wooden doors, I was taken aback by its Mediterranean ambiance, as well as the smooth jazz that filled the air. I was taken to a quiet table in the corner where I viewed the extensive menu. There were also organic and gluten free selections, which are a rarity, for many restaurants in Baltimore.
