The house of Pierre Balmain has been a staple of French couture fashion since the late1940s. After World War II, Balmain made a name for himself dressing the world’s royalty and Hollywood starlets. Along with Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga, he has helped bring feminine elegance and glamour into the spotlight. Decades after his death, Pierre’s legacy and vision are still carried on.

France has announced plans to eliminate the term “mademoiselle” on all official government documents.

Bronx-born Jennifer Lopez put a hint of house music back on the map with “On the Floor” in 2011. The song is an infusion of dance-pop, electropop and electro-house. “On the Floor” samples the 1989 song, “Lambada” by Kaoma, a multinational French pop group. Koama’s members were from Guadeloupe, Brazil, and Martinique.
